“Someone may hear well but listen poorly.”
What is the Tomatis® Method?
In practice, the Tomatis® Method is listening to filtered music (Mozart, Bach, Haydn, Handel and Gregorian chants) with a Gating® effect, through special bone-conduction Maestro headphones. There is also the option of a Bone Conduction Kit, a soft waist belt, for clients who cannot wear headphones.
The timbre and intensity of the musical recordings are modified without affecting rhythm and melody.
These sound perception contrasts are designed to surprise the ear and the brain, increasing attention.
This is called the Tomatis® Effect.
Did you know?
Over 80% of the stimulation our brain receives comes from the ear.
The ear not only receives sound but also determines your balance, rhythm and coordination.
This explains how the Tomatis® Method can impact across broad and far reaching applications.
Who can follow the Tomatis® Method?
Almost anyone! From babies, infants, children and teenagers, those aged 1 year to 100-year old adults; suffering from a specific disorder, or not.
NB it is not possible to recuperate hearing thresholds with Tomatis® auditory stimulation.
The Tomatis® Method is a complementary technique that enhances the success of other specialist interventions. Auditory stimulation helps the individual to better integrate:
speech and language therapy / SLT
occupational therapy / OT
educational or music tuition
behavioural therapy / CBT
counselling and talking therapies
…and even stick to exercise plans!
