How Soundsory works
The system combines rhythmic music with body movement exercises to stimulate the brain and support the development of both motor and cognitive skills.
Rhythmic Music
Specially filtered music with varying tempos encourages movement, sharpens hearing and balance, and helps build neural connections.
Humans have seven senses, not just five, including the proprioceptive system and the vestibular system, which controls balance. Your balance system is what allows you to ride a bike, climb stairs, or walk over uneven surfaces without losing your footing.
The inner ear
The vestibular system in the inner ear helps control balance by sending movement and hearing information to the brain.
The unique Soundsory headphones transmit rhythmic music through both air and bone conduction.
Air conduction
Sound moving through the air is known as air conduction. It allows us to hear everyday noises like laughter, traffic, and music by carrying sound to the eardrum and brain for processing.
Bone conduction
Sound is a vibration that mainly travels through the skull bones, not the eardrum. This process called bone conduction, occurs about 10 times faster than sound moving through air.
“Rhythmic music naturally makes us want to move. Soundsory helps to build brain connections”
Body Movement Exercises
The Soundsory App (or website) provides customised exercises — from gentle seated activities to more intense Level 3 movements.
Created for all
It is a programme suitable for children and older adults – no matter their skill level.
“Soundsory targets the vestibular system, which is fundamental for enhancing life skills.”
