‘1000 skips a day in May’

To raise money for life-saving cancer research I’m doing 310,000 skips in May for Cancer Research UK.

My mission is to do 1000 skips each day; I will push myself because the cause is bigger than my individual comfort! I am doing this for all those affected now and in the future. Jumping rope gives hope.

Why this challenge?

I have always enjoyed skipping and actually entered a competition once!

Please check back regularly on this page for updates during the month of May.

UPDATE 07/05/2025 - Day 7 of 1000 skips a day in May.

The many faces of a skipping challenge - fortunately no words needed!

UPDATE 05/05/2025 - Day 5 of 1000 skips a day in May.

You're officially in triple digits!

The £100 you've raised could pay for a PhD student for one day, equipping them with the skills they’ll need to make future breakthroughs.

Nice to get an email update from Cancer Research UK, with details of what the money raised so far could contribute towards. I look forward to receiving more milestone badges as I progress through May. Please donate here to help me reach those higher targets!

UPDATE 04/05/2025 - Day 4 of 1000 skips a day in May.

Yes, I have had to remove the light bulb overhead!

I upped the daily target to 1000 skips a day, as I realised I can do 100 skips in about 50 seconds so that wasn’t really a challenge - or I could have just been lazy or fibbed.

UPDATE 03/05/2025 - Day 3 of 1000 skips a day in May.

The cricket ground next to Turf Moor Stadium was a nice touch.

10PM AND JUST DID MY 1000 SKIPS!! I left it late, late due to leaving home before 4am this morning for a 600 miles round trip for the last football game of the season.

Nearly 1 in 2 of us will get cancer in our lifetime. Help support and fund world-class research into the prevention, detection and treatment of more than 200 types of cancer.
